潦收沙衍出，霜降天宇晶。
译文：路上的积水减少，沙滩露出，霜降天空之晶。
注释：潦：雨水大。路上的流水，积水：潦水。lào，古同“涝”，雨水过多，水淹。沙衍：水中有沙者曰沙衍。天宇：指上下四方整个空间。
伏槛一长眺，津途多远情。
译文：趴在栏杆远望，道路有深情。思来江山外，望尽烟云生想来江山之外，看尽烟云发生。
注释：伏：身体前倾靠在物体上。槛：读音为jiàn，栏干，栏板。眺：远望。津：指渡口。途：道路。津涂：道路。远情：犹深情。”思来江(jiāng)山外，望尽烟云生江山：江河和山岭，多用来指国家或国家的政权。烟云：烟霭云雾，也比喻变化消失的事物。
思来江山外，望尽烟云生。
译文：朝中事情多半无能为力，劳苦不息而不见成功。
注释：滔滔：比喻言行或其他事物连续不断，形容大水奔流貌：白浪滔滔。役役：劳苦不息貌。有所求而不止曰役役。
滔滔不自辨，役役且何成。
译文：我年老而疏白的鬓发飘在清凉风中，谁说那是仕宦者的彩色冠缨。
注释：飒：风声，清凉的样子。又衰飒。衰鬓：年老而疏白的鬓发。多指暮年。孰：谁。云：说。华缨：彩色的冠缨。古代仕宦者的冠带。
我来飒衰鬓，孰云飘华缨。
译文：拴在槽上的马受束缚，蜷曲无法伸直，不自由的笼中鸟想念远行。
注释：枥马：拴在马槽上的马。多喻受束缚，不自由者。踡跼：蜷曲或弯曲不伸的样子。笼禽：笼子中的鸟。比喻不自由之身。遐征：远行；远游。
枥马苦踡跼，笼禽念遐征。
译文：年底临近傍晚（年将老），日夜白白地彷徨。
注释：岁阴：岁暮，年底。向：1.对着，朝着。2.近，临。晼晚：1.太阳偏西，日将暮。2.年将老；老年时期。3.指时令晚。日夕：近黄昏时；傍晚。又日夜之意。空：徒然，平白地。屏营：也作“屏盈”，彷徨。
岁阴向晼晚，日夕空屏营。
译文：事物可贵之处是合其情性，身心劳累的原因是喜好追求功名。
注释：得性：谓合其情性。由：原因，缘由。近名：好名；追求名誉。
物生贵得性，身累由近名。
译文：内心自省：挂冠辞官是正确做法，追溯往事叹何时公平。
注释：内顾：回头看。内心自省。觉：醒悟。今是：现在是对的，过去是错的。指认识过去的错误。追叹：谓追溯往事而感叹。何时平：什么时候太平；怎样承平。何时：表示疑问。平：安定。时平：时世承平。
内顾觉今是，追叹何时平。

张九龄(678-740) : 唐开元尚书丞相，诗人。字子寿，一名博物，汉族，韶州曲江（今广东韶关市）人。长安年间进士。官至中书侍郎同中书门下平章事。后罢相，为荆州长史。诗风清淡。有《曲江集》。他是一位有胆识、有远见的著名政治家、文学家、诗人、名相。他忠耿尽职，秉公守则，直言敢谏，选贤任能，不徇私枉法，不趋炎附势，敢与恶势力作斗争，为“开元之治”作出了积极贡献。他的五言古诗，以素练质朴的语言，寄托深远的人生慨望，对扫除唐初所沿习的六朝绮靡诗风，贡献尤大。誉为“岭南第一人”。
