字吉丞，泰阶子。工词章，兼擅考据。南菁书院高才生，为院长黄元同、缪筱珊诸先生所激赏。对于乡邦文献亦所究心，刊有重思斋丛书，以郡优廪生中式。光绪甲午举人，屡试春官不第。科举废后，纳赀官内阁中书。旋改主事，甫到部，遽患咯血症，竟以不起。著有国朝汉学师承记，晋书集注，贡息甫年谱，龙砂志略，龙砂诗存，梓里咫闻录，重思斋诗存、文存各若干卷。邑续志传文苑。
