星星白发，生于鬓垂。虽非青蝇，秽我光仪。策名观国，以此见疵。将拔将镊，好爵是縻。
白发将拔，惄然自诉：禀命不幸，值君年暮。逼迫秋霜，生而皓素。始览明镜，惕然见恶。朝生昼拔，何罪之故？子观桔柚，一暠一晔，贵其素华，匪尚绿叶。愿戢子之手，摄子之镊。
咨尔白发，观世之途。靡不追荣，贵华贱桔。赫赫阊阖，蔼蔼紫庐。弱冠来仕，童髫献谟。甘罗乘轸，子奇剖符。英英终贾，高论云衢。拔白就黑。此自在吾。
白发临欲拔，瞑目号呼：何我之冤，何子之误！甘罗自以辩惠见称，不以发黑而名著。贾生自以良才见异，不以乌鬓而后举。闻之先民，国用老成。二老归周，周道肃清。四皓佐汉，汉德光明。何必去我，然后要荣？
咨尔白发，事各有以，尔之所言，非不有理。曩贵耆耄，今薄旧齿。皤皤荣期，皓首田里。虽有二毛，河清难俟。随时之变，见叹孔子。
发乃辞尽，誓以固穷。昔临玉颜，今从飞蓬。发肤至昵，尚不克终。聊用拟辞，比之国风。

左思（约250～305）字太冲，齐国临淄（今山东淄博）人。西晋著名文学家，其《三都赋》颇被当时称颂，造成“洛阳纸贵”。左思自幼其貌不扬却才华出众。晋武帝时，因妹左棻被选入宫，举家迁居洛阳，任秘书郎。晋惠帝时，依附权贵贾谧，为文人集团“二十四友”的重要成员。永康元年（300年），因贾谧被诛，遂退居宜春里，专心著述。后齐王司马冏召为记室督，不就。太安二年（303年），因张方进攻洛阳而移居冀州，不久病逝。
