马廷鸾（1222年—1289年），字翔仲，号碧悟。宋饶州乐平（今江西乐平市）众埠乡楼前村人。幼年丧父，贫不改志，刻苦读书，淳祐七年（1247），马廷鸾赴京参加乙未科省试，获进士第一，殿试为第四，一举成名。他一生勤政爱民，秉性正直，从地方官直至宰相高位。惜南宋朝廷为权奸把握，不能尽展其才华。度宗朝奸臣贾似道、丁大全当国把持朝政，视为异见，受其压制，迫于内忧外患，廷鸾饮恨引退。宋亡，马廷鸾拒绝与元政权合作，表现出崇高的民族气节。
