秋风里皇宫的众多宫殿更加幽深，昭阳殿里美人的歌声阻断了来信。
只有夜晚的明月陪着皇后陈阿娇，看她在长门宫里等汉武帝的宠爱。
注释
三十六宫：极言宫殿之多。
昭阳：昭阳殿，汉代宫殿名。
陈皇后：陈阿娇。
长门：长门宫，长门宫原是馆陶长公主刘嫖所有的私家园林，以长公主情夫董偃的名义献给汉武帝改建成的，用作皇帝祭祀时休息的地方。长门宫在长安城外。后来刘嫖的女儿陈皇后被废，迁居长门宫。南朝时，萧统编《文选》，收录《长门赋》，传说是陈皇后不甘心被废，花费千金求司马相如所做。《长门赋》使长门之名千古流传。长门宫亦成为冷宫的代名词。

杜牧（公元803－约852年），字牧之，号樊川居士，汉族，京兆万年（今陕西西安）人，唐代诗人。杜牧人称“小杜”，以别于杜甫。与李商隐并称“小李杜”。因晚年居长安南樊川别墅，故后世称“杜樊川”，著有《樊川文集》。
