苏州府长洲人，字原博。祖、父皆以医得官。宣德初，以善医授惠州局副使。后调太医院吏目。博通经史，精天文律历之学，亦善画工诗，与晏铎、王淮、汤胤绩、苏平、邹亮、蒋忠等号“景泰十才子”，常被推为盟主。有《草窗集》。
