狗尾续貂的成语故事

拼音gǒu wěi xù diāo

基本解释貂尾不够；就用狗尾来补充。貂：指古代皇帝侍从官员用作帽饰的貂尾。原讽刺所封官爵太滥；后比喻用次品续在珍品之后。多指后来续写的文学作品不如原来的好。

出处宋 孙光宪《北梦琐言》第18卷：“乱离以来，官爵过滥，封王作辅，狗尾续貂。”

狗尾续貂的典故

晋武帝司马炎死后，儿子司马衷继位，他对朝政一窍不通，大权落到贾后手里，贾后生性凶狠狡诈，赵王司马伦以此为借口带兵冲入宫廷，杀死了贾后，自封为相国。

司马伦为了笼络朝臣，扩大自己的势力范围，于是大封文武百官。等到一切就绪后，又废掉晋惠帝，自称皇帝。当时规定，王侯大臣都戴用貂尾装饰的帽子，由于司马伦大肆封官晋爵，所以一时貂尾都不够用，所以只好用狗尾来代替，人们就据此编了两句民谣：“貂不足，狗尾续。”用来讽刺朝廷。

后来，人们用“狗尾续貂”表示续作不佳。清代蒲松龄的《代王次公与颜山赵启》里有这个典故：“庇舆盖中，仍添昼行之锦；从缙绅后，张惭尾续之貂。”
