不管三七二十一的典故

战国时，苏秦主张合纵抗秦，张仪主张连横事秦。一次，苏秦到了齐国都城临淄，见到了齐宣王，进行游说抗秦。齐宣王谈到齐国的兵力不足时，苏秦说，都城临淄有七万户，我私自计算了一下，每户按3个男子服役，这就是三七二十一万兵，抗秦的兵源，用不着再往别处征兵，仅临淄一城，就足够了。

苏秦的这个算法，显然是不切合实际情况的，全城不可能达到每户都出3个男子当兵。即使男子，也不一定都能从军，因为还有老、幼、病、残在内。

后来，人们把“不管三七二十一”作为讥喻的贬义词来相传，并且在含意上有所扩展，成了不问是非情由，不分青红皂白，蛮干、愣头青的同义俗语而应用在社会生活方面了。
