春秋时期，晋国内乱，公子重耳与夷吾外逃他国。重耳在狄国娶季隗为妻。公子夷吾借助秦国力量回国继位为晋惠公，想派人暗杀重耳。重耳要季隗等她25年后再嫁。季隗说到时快要进棺材了还谈什么改嫁。后来重耳在秦国帮助成为晋文公。
