渐入佳境的典故

东晋晋陵无锡人顾恺之（约346-407年），字长康，小字虎头。顾恺之学问渊博，很有才气，曾经给桓温、殷仲堪等人做过参军之类的官。他尤其擅长绘画，当时的名家如谢安等人都非常器重他。顾恺之性格怪异，与常人不同，人们都称他有三绝，即才绝、画绝、痴绝，表现了浪漫才子的豪放不羁。

传说他喜欢吃甘蔗，但是与常人不一样，嚼食甘蔗时，与一般人先吃主干后吃末稍不一样，总是自末稍吃到主干再往下直至根部。有人对他的这种吃甘蔗法感到很好奇，他则回答说：“渐入佳境。”
